Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ - Handmade Ceramics

I really like your style but can’t find the item I want. What should I do?

Please get in touch via the contact form and tell me what you’re looking for. I’ll be happy to discuss your ideas and arrange a free discovery call to explore a custom design.

Do you create bespoke ceramics? How long does it take and how much does it cost?

Yes, I’m delighted to take bespoke commissions. Each piece is handmade and requires two firing cycles, so the process typically takes 4–6 weeks. Pricing depends on complexity and size, but a custom mug or bowl is usually comparable in price to those in the shop.

Do you offer discounts for larger orders?

Absolutely. The more pieces you order, the greater the discount — up to 20% for orders of 50 or more items. Please contact me to discuss details.

Are handmade ceramics food-safe?

All glazes used for tableware are completely food-safe. Decorative objects such as vases or planters may use textured or matte glazes that are more delicate — these are not suitable for food use or dishwashers.

Will unglazed areas absorb stains from tea or coffee?

No — all pieces are made of high-fired stoneware, fired at 1260°C, making them fully vitrified and non-porous. They won’t absorb liquids. To keep your mug in pristine condition, avoid leaving beverages inside for extended periods.

Can I wash my handmade ceramics in the dishwasher?

While stoneware is technically dishwasher-safe, I recommend gentle hand washing to preserve the glazes and prevent accidental chipping.

Dishwashers can cause wear over time due to high water pressure and strong detergents. If your piece is special to you, a quick rinse by hand is the safest choice.

Are handmade ceramics microwave safe?

Some pieces are, but not all. Certain glazes contain metallic oxides that can react in the microwave. To stay safe, it’s best to avoid microwaving handmade ceramics unless the piece is specifically labelled as microwave-safe.

What are shipping conditions?

All orders are carefully packaged and shipped from the UK. Standard shipping rates are displayed at checkout for ready-made pieces.

For bespoke commissions or larger works, shipping costs will be calculated individually based on the size, weight, and destination.

I ship worldwide, and please note that international orders (e.g., to the U.S.) may be subject to local import duties or taxes, which are the responsibility of the customer.

Can I return the ceramic object I purchased?

All ready-made ceramics purchased online are subject to my Returns Policy.

Please note that bespoke or commissioned pieces are non-returnable and non-refundable, as they are made uniquely to your specifications.

FAQ - Bespoke Painting Commissions

I would like to commission a bespoke painting for my home. What should I do?

Please get in touch via the contact form and describe what you have in mind. I’ll arrange a free discovery call to discuss your ideas, colour preferences, and space.

For larger or more complex commissions, an on-site visit may be required to assess the light, dimensions, and atmosphere of your space.

What medium do you work in?

I primarily paint in oil on canvas or board. Oil is a versatile medium that allows for rich textures and depth, but it can also achieve the softness and translucency of watercolour or acrylic, depending on your desired effect.

How long does it take to complete a painting, and how much does it cost?

The timeframe and cost depend on the size and complexity of the piece.

As a guide, a small painting (up to 50 × 50 cm) usually takes around two weeks to complete, plus an additional 1–2 weeks for drying time.

Prices start from £400 for a 20 × 30 cm painting and increase proportionally with scale and detail.

Do you offer framing services?

Yes — a bespoke handmade frame can be created in collaboration with trusted, experienced framers to perfectly complement your artwork.

Framing costs vary depending on materials and finish and will be agreed upon separately once specifications are finalised.

Do you paint from photographs?

No — I prefer to paint live, from direct observation. Whether capturing a landscape en plein air or working on a portrait in-situ, I aim to reflect the authentic light, atmosphere, and emotion of the moment. This approach gives each artwork its unique energy and depth that can’t be replicated from a photograph.

Do you ship commissioned artworks internationally?

Yes, I can arrange insured delivery worldwide. Shipping costs depend on the size, weight and destination.

Please note that international orders (e.g., to the U.S.) may be subject to local import duties or taxes, which are the responsibility of the customer.

Can I return commissioned artworks?

Please note that bespoke or commissioned pieces are non-returnable and non-refundable, as they are made uniquely to your specifications.
